Sittin'
This baby is really trying his best to sit up.
He can sit up on his own just fine now, but you still have to watch him because randomly he will lose his balance and tip over. Or he will have a mini-fit and arch his back and try and smack his head on the floor (and sometimes we are not fast enough to prevent this).
And since he is currently working on this milestone, he has forgotten the others he has already accomplished. Yep, he has now stopped rolling over. But then today he randomly rolled from tummy to back ( he did this first around 2 months and then quickly dropped the habit). I guess he is too good for those movements. Or he really despises his tummy time.

When did he get so old?
This past weekend my mom (Grandma Patty) was in town to help since Jeff was getting some oral surgery done.
And it was really nice having her here to help because L took a couple of naps on her which meant mommy had free time! That also means I wasted lots of time on the internet, what else would it mean?
And Grandma Patty was sure glad L wasn't afraid of her yet, babies tend to not like her. But once the kid can walk and talk they like her again.
And with Grandma Patty came some stuff...another lazy boy chair (which the cats have claimed for their own), a fake light up pumpkin (that Jeff and I have both agreed is going bye-bye, I mean did she not see my post about how there is too much stuff in this house already!?), and a massive stuffed Winnie-the-Pooh (which baby LOVES).
Stick that Pooh Bear in his face and sing the Winnie-the-Pooh theme song and he will start laughing.
( See the cats have claimed it. Usually Heath is on top in this style and MJ is in the seat.)
And this last photo. I was trying to slice up apples and put them in the crockpot to make applesauce and L was wanting attention. So I stuck him in his booster seat (and OMG he can almost sit up by himself, he has moments where he will be sitting up and then proceed to arch his back and fall over or do a face plant, but he is soooo close) and gave him some toys. And then I took a picture and realized how old he looks. My baby is growing up!
... and he really needs to stop.

Toddle Along Tuesday- Introduction
Toddle Along Tuesday is back!
And now there are set topics for each week. It will be exciting to see what everyone posts each week and how they vary even though they are all about the same topic.
This first week is just a basic introduction.

Hello! I am Leland, but most people besides my parents insist on calling me Leo.
I am currently 5 1/2 months old. My favorite things to do are chew on anything and everything, that even includes stealing apples from my mom. I like to roll over onto my stomach from my back and then cry because I don't want to actually be on my stomach. And I love to bounce!
Here is momma, wearing me as usual:
She gets to stay at home with me everyday!
And I have two bad kitties:
They have attention issues, they are big people lovers and are constantly trying to steal the attention away from me.
And this is daddy, he is the one that thankfully works hard so momma can stay home. And he takes care of me while momma goes to school.
Hope you enjoy reading this blog and the many other great ones that are a part of TAT, thanks for stopping by!

Murmur update
Someone found out he has toes he can hold onto and stick in his mouth.
We went to the cardiologist on Friday so they could do another echo on baby's heart. They wanted to check on his heart murmur and see how it was doing or if he had grown out of it.
And we are in the clear! The doctor said there is still a slight murmur but that it is considered totally normal. When they did the echo ( which baby did a really good job! having to be still for 20 minutes isn't easy for this one) everything checked out fine. The blood flow in his heart is measuring within normal velocities so all is good.
Which means we don't have to go there again. Woohoo!
And he got weighed and measured, he weighs 15 lbs 13 oz and hasn't grown in length, still measuring at 25.5 inches.
He is just working on his chunks right now.
While in the waiting room he was the center of attention. He was smiling and interacting with anyone that would look at him or talk to him. He really, really enjoys being out in public. Which is helpful because we have been able to go out several times this weekend with no problems at all.
Friday after the cardiologist we went to lunch and then later that afternoon he had to come with me on a field trip for class since Daddy was getting his teeth/gums cleaned. Then we went to dinner and stayed up past his bed time. And it was never an issue.
I don't understand why I got such a good baby, but I am very thankful I did.

Naps
So I have a dilemma. And it is nap time.
Currently Leo takes 3-4 naps during the day and the length of the naps varies. Anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, more likely on the 30 minute side. And every. single. nap. is taken on one of us. And most likely in a carrier. Sometime when Jeff picks him up from campus is it nap time so he falls asleep in the car and stays asleep in the car seat once they get home.
But for the majority of his naps they are on someone and if you try and put him down after he falls asleep he wakes right back up.
And I feel like I should be thinking this is a problem, but I really don't. Is that bad? Only every few weeks do I feel that I need to force him to sleep on his own. And I feel since almost all other parents have their kids nap on their own (and there is nothing wrong with that) that I should make my kid do it as well.
But I feel (and know) that eventually he will outgrow this, just like he will outgrow sleeping with us at night (but he does sleep in the bed by himself each night for a few hours prior to us going to bed). And that these times will go by so quickly, why not enjoy it while I can? If this ends up being our only kid, I want to know that I cherished every single moment and day and nap.
And I am doing my best to do that.
So should I feel guilty?
Should I be making him take naps on his own?
Am I creating a monster?
Is there anyone else out there like me?
